Cashmere is a soft, natural wool fiber that is harvested from goats. Unlike many other forms of wool fiber production, cashmere is mostly handled and separated by hand. Go ahead and take your cashmere to the dry cleaners if you want, but you can actually wash it at home without worries. Simply use the delicate or wool cycle on your washing machine, use cool/cold water and a mild laundry detergent, and lay the wet garment flat to dry. Don’t put it in the dryer or you risk it shrinking. If you must iron your sweater, gently use the steam setting.
